Tropes & Clichés

A ‘trope’ is a recognisable attribute or a recurring pattern in certain kinds of media that the audience picks up. When overused to an invasive and distracting degree, a trope can turn into a cliché.

The decades-long history of Eurovision has brought many recurring themes, coincidences, traditions, tropes and clichés whether its the topic of a song, the performer’s costume, or funny things about certain results. And here we will gather them all for everyone to read and learn about, and of course look out for any new aspects within the Contest to make note of.
